it's a week full of see you laters. tonight was with james and his family. they took me out to an italian buffet restuarant and after that we went to a nerd center. i came up on a number of street fighter talking key chains. i just need an e honda and ryu to complete the set. now back to packing and see you laters.

shinjuku-kabukicho (kaori plus friends)

recently, i met up with kaori up in shinjuku. kaori is always doing something big or cool. so when she said would bring some of her friends along, i was curious to see just what her friends were like. and yeah, well...pretty unbelievable. i felt worthless and motivated at the same time.

a sad morning

this morning around 6:30am, i was awoken to the sound of fire trucks, police cars, and ambulances. usally i hear them coming from the distance, they get closer, then they go off into the distance. this morning the noise kept getting closer but the noise did not die down. i looked out the window, and saw this.

two people passed away. an 81 old woman who was confined to her bed. and 90 year old man, who apparently was trying to help her out of bed. how tragic. i have never witnessed such a scene, before.

this afternoon, out of curiousity i walked over there to see the result. it was so sad. the smell and the aftermath. to the fire dept's credit, it was pretty impressive to see how quickly they put out the fire.

rolling with my mentor

going out with my mentor is ridonculous. we take taxis, go to numerous restaurants, karaoke clubs, bars, and izakayas but i never see him pay. if thats not enough, i end up coming home with gifts from these places. he is ahead of his time. he had a cell phone, when they were worn as a backpack. now, his phone is the most futuristic thing i have ever seen. his office is full of ahead of its time equipment from back then till now. man, i am going to miss him. simply ridonculous.

they are old as hell and they' re not going to take it anymore

we need some guys who will crack down on the illegal bicycle parking around town. we need some guys who will yell at a lady and her young child, and not even think twice about making her child cry. we need some guys who will yell at homely red headed english teacher and get in his face, when he is just in a hurry to get on the bus to work. we need some guys who will crack down on illegal bicycle parking so we can keep this dump of a city from looking even like a bigger dump. i mean who are we kidding, the only thing this city has going for it, is the daidogei (street performance world cup) where weird carni street performers from eastern europe come in and perform their not so amazing stunts and generally weird out the townspeople.

we need some old men.

half year party

some teachers from a sister school in australia came to visit. and last night some local temples celebrated the fact that a half a year had past. so we grilled some food, went to a temple. came back and lit off fireworks. it was a little embarrassing when i arrived at the temple. once there, i had run into some students whom i had taught before. these students were the same ones who had witnessed my bike accident a few weeks back. so i got to relive that, again.
